Homelab Hero · No. 005: your result

Second-best call. 40 Hero Points.

Defensible — the spare is right there and the mirror does still hold a full copy. But a mirror is redundancy, not a backup: the resilver is the heaviest read load the surviving drive will ever see, and that drive is the same model, bought the same week, with the same years on it. If it gives up mid-resilver with no backup taken, every VM on the node goes with it.

The lesson: A mirror is not a backup. Verify a restore path before you stress the survivor.
