Homelab Hero · No. 015: your result
Defensible — a known copy survives on the shelf, and that earns the partial credit. But you still run a degraded array on unverified backups while you sort the chain out, and the pulled drive is a snapshot of a pool whose restore path just failed. The swap could have waited an hour; the verification could not.
The lesson: A pulled drive on the shelf is a fallback, not a backup strategy. Verify restores before you touch the array.
