Defensible — the power cap drops the heat load and the batch does finish, and that earns the partial credit. But it leaves a rack with a failed airflow path running hot for hours, cooking dust into the heatsinks and pushing warm air at the nodes beside it. The fault is still there tomorrow, now with a job's worth of heat damage done.
The lesson: A power cap buys time, not a fix. Use it to pause safely, not to keep cooking.
